Digital Strategist


Who are you?


We’re looking for a full-time Digital Strategist to join the NERDS in a remote capacity or at our headquarters in Old Town Fort Collins. Skills are important, but cultural fit is everything. This person will positively contribute to our culture through strong collaboration and maintaining a great attitude through constant change. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can stay on task and self-manage, while being okay with receiving direction and feedback. Responsibilities:


  • Driving strategic discussions and implementing agreed-upon digital marketing tactics.
  • Collaborating with project manager and fellow team members to produce high-quality websites and web applications
  • Helping with our DISCOVERY process for website builds including:
    • User Scenarios
    • Keyword Research
    • Navigation Recommendations
    • Technical Requirements
    • Content Outlining
  • Pulling in proper NERDS for appropriate efforts (Graphic Design for ad creative, PM for help with organizing tasks, Senior Developers for website changes, etc.)
  • Set up and maintain Google Ads, Linkedin Ads, and Bing Ads
    • Campaign structure creation
    • Monthly budget management
    • Performance management
    • Weekly maintenance
  • Managing website content in WordPress and Craft CMS
  • Pulling in contractor resources when necessary – being mindful of budget
  • Assigning and maintaining tasks in the company project management tool
  • Writing copy for SEO landing pages and premium content pieces
  • Writing ad copy and landing page copy to support digital campaigns
  • Helping with proposals at the leadership team’s request
  • Maintaining process documentation and helping us improve
  • Offering insights and suggestions to improve UI and UX of client websites
  • Using Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to implement tracking
  • Monthly reporting in Google Analytics and other tools
  • Must track all billable time in our time-tracking system (with detailed notes)

Account Management:


  • Thinking from a strategist’s standpoint, offering creative ideas to improve lead generation and customer acquisition for our clients
  • Creating effective digital campaigns that drive a positive ROI for our clients
  • Regularly meeting and communicating with ongoing retainer clients
  • Regularly meeting and communicating with project-based clients
  • Regularly reporting on campaign and channel performance
  • Creating a roadmap of strategic digital marketing ideas and tasks
  • Cross-sell other NerdyMind services to our existing clients when possible
  • Working with our Coordinator to set up virtual client calls
  • Manage both service and ad spend budget with our clients and Coordinator
  • Constantly research and learn about new digital marketing tactics (and bring those ideas to our customers)
  • Manage tasks and projects with the help of our Project Coordinator
  • Help with NerdyMind's digital marketing, lead generation, and website

Job Characteristics:


  • Cultural fit is incredibly imperative

  • Experience managing content in WordPress is a big plus
  • Experience with Google Ads, Bing Ads, and Linkedin Ads is awesome!
  • Copywriting skills are required

  • Basic understanding of modern SEO strategy
  • Advanced Google Analytics knowledge - GA4 is a huge plus!
  • An understanding of UI and UX best practices

Key Performance Indicators:


  • 75-80% billable time in this role (based on a 40-hour work week)
  • Showing up on time and ready to work between 8am and 8:15am (buffer)
  • Level of client campaign performance / getting positive results
  • Quality of communication with customers and NERDS
  • Following PM protocols and processes
  • Bringing new ideas to clients regularly
  • Staying within our monthly and project-based budgets (if budget is exceeded, help us understand why and make adjustments to improve our forecasts)
  • Maintaining a positive, collaborative attitude
  • Level of customer service and overall response times
